Database Administrator The career I have chosen to research is database administrator. According to a report released by the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Employment of database (DBAs) is projected to grow 11 percent from the 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations. Growth in this occupation will be driven by the increased data needs of companies in all sectors of the economy”(1). The 11 percent might not seem like a lot compared to the specific field but if you really think about it’s for all fields, from schooling to advertising every business nowadays have a database that needs maintaining. Then information systems management, eventually becoming chief information officer (CIO)” (McCoy 3). From all the sources I have came across this stuck out the most because no other source stated these facts. This source was has the best information out of all my sources. While I have been doing my degree in database I never knew what my title would be and assumed I would be a database administrator. Thankfully I found this source and it states you have to work your way up. I will not be going down the programming route even though I have a little experience with it. Instead, I will pursue the database analysts position I come across. This quote shows the potential growth I can accomplish with hard work. All the sources keep stating you need experience but when I get hired as an analyst I will be doing just that.
I had a general idea what the duties that a database administrator had to do but I wasn’t fully aware until I read the EUREKA printout.

They respond to the needs of a group of users such as management or department heads. Thanks to this project I have learned a great deal of information that was needed in order to take a further step in my life. I never claimed to be the smartest student or most determined but I want to be successful. My mom raised me by herself with no degree with just a hard work ethic, so as the first kid to graduate college is a huge success in her eyes. I will prove I am worthy of her sacrifices she has given up to get me this far. I know I have a long way to go but thank you Phil for opening my eyes on what needs to be done. This project has made me realize I can succeed if I try and make a comfortable living while doing
