I believe that reason that graduate programs exist is to accomplish this very task. In the same way the doctor pass on their skills and knowledge to medical students, our professors and other experts in my field will have the opportunity to transfer their skills on us so that we can use what they know to change our current state. I seek not only learn the technical skills, but to develop the necessary thought process that required to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize an database. In that regard, my skills can be transferable to any database operation.
I also seek to learn from my colleagues. We all have different strengths as a result of our different backgrounds. For example, some of the students of the program may be proficient with computers and programming. Through them I can enhance the computer skills I already possess and learn new ones that will not only make me a more competitive applicant, but expand my understanding of my craft so that I am better able to troubleshoot problems and provide simpler solutions.
