In our twentieth century day and time, information is more digital than ever. We are data resource rich and information poor, because of the volume and ever expanding growth we have of resources. In this day and time, technology is changing every day. As a result of the rapidly changing technology, the development of information skills is a learning process that is life-long. As healthcare providers, we must develop information literacy and information technology skills in order to identify valid health care information that is reliable on the internet. We must be able to interpret these outcomes so that we may improve patient care (Sewell, 2016, pg. 139). We cannot develop information and health literacy skills just by listening to a lecture or by reading a book. In order to learn, active learning must take place.In order to take these skills with us in the work field, they must be repeated multiple times (Sewell, 2016, pg. 141).
