One of the benefits of teaching isn’t really the pay, but the fact that we have a steady salary. A writer for jobmonkey.com stated in their article titled, “The Good and Bad of Being a School Teacher.” That, “While the pay is not six figures, teachers do earn a steady income. With yearly increases, contracted raises, and increases from furthered education, a teacher’s salary continually climbs. Not to mention, it is rewarding to receive paychecks all summer long while on vacation. In addition to the salary, teachers typically have excellent health care and retirement packages that add value to the job.” This shows that a pay check doesn’t always mean everything. We aren’t trying to broaden the way we teach were just recycling the stuff we have done before. Alex Terego has taught for five years and is the owner of Terego Enterprise Training: Instructional Design where they teach students 21st century learning skills. Terego said in his article titled, “Instructional Designers: Is The American Education Status Important To You?” that, “The next thing to understand is that the current – and heated debate in educational circles is how to do a better job of testing: Not whether we should still be using testing as our primary educational method. Despite the fact that it is abundantly clear from multiple statistical sources that it is not only not working, it is moving the gradient down.” Testing is an average of all students not learning and a lot of students don’t test well.
