Das Rheingold Music Analysis

We are surrounded by many myths and stories of many heroes, gods, inspiring individuals who have passed into legend. Some of which who can tell firsthand of what they had encountered with these remarkable beings, their stories are to inspire one another, teach a lesson, forcing children into behaving. In this of the opera of Das Rheingold scene one is themed on absolute power, telling secrets, and judging people on their appearances. Wilhelm Richard Wagner(a very popular german composer) decided to tell one of these many stories through and orchestratic opera called Das Rheingold or The Rheingold which is based off norse myths of the gods of Asgard and the Nine Realms ruled by Wotan or Odin. Das Rheingold scene one is about a dwarf named Alberich, who not only steals the Rhein gold itself but forges a ring with not only ultimate power but also with a curse of anyone in possession of this ring will live in fear of losing it and being murdered by the one who robbeds them of the ring. Curious and amazed of the magnificent sight, he asks about what this light is and the maidens describe to him what the Rhein gold is and how they’re father(Wotin or Odin) had ordered them to protect due to the fact that its purpose is to be forged into a ring that can have the power to beset upon the bearer to have the ability to rule the world but must first past the trials of renouncing love to any and all, yet they still continue to mock and tease him again for his ugly features and believe they have nothing to fear due to his lustful intentions when he had first encountered the maidens, or so they thought.
