Darwin had five major ideas when it came to evolution. The first being evolution has happened and that’s not being debated by Darwin. The second being that all life has a common ancestor even though there was little evidence of this other than molecular and cellular data. His next idea was the diversity of all life happened because of splits in lineage in separate organisms. Darwin’s fourth idea was natural selection is the primary mechanism that drives evolutionary change even though there’s many forces that drive the change. His last idea was that evolution occurs over time even though many other scientists didn’t agree with him on this one.
