Shem, Ham, and Japheth all three had wives when the family entered the ark. God told Noah, “You shall enter the ark – you and your sons and your wife, and your sons' wives with you”. (Gen. 6:18) Darren Aronofsky's “Noah” shows that only Shem has a wife who later becomes pregnant with two girls. Giant mythical rock creatures (watchers) obviously did not exist in the time of Noah. They are considered to be the fallen angels who have been been turned to stone and help Noah with the building of the ark by cutting down trees and are there to provide protection against outside armies. With doing some background research, I found that the Watchers date back over two thousand years in the interpretation of Christians and Jews, but not to the times of Genesis. 6:13) We know that both mankind and the animals were evil. The film portrays the animal as being innocent and in need of protection. Regarding the animals, we can only imagine how an ark full of every known species of animal could be quite rowdy, noisy and smelly. In order to save time with filming (assuming), the animals are put under some sore of sleep spell and remain quiet during the flood while aboard the ark. Again, this is assuming that the directors wanted to avoid having to show for how the animals were kept and fed. The ark was also able to stay quiet for filming since all the animals were magically sleeping. This was more than likely for filming purposes but was still different than the story in the
