Josh Axe, a certified doctor of natural medicine, doctor of chiropractic and clinical nutritionist, in his article “7 Awesome Health Benefits of Dark Chocolate” (2017), tends to use food as a form of medicine to our body. Since he is a nutritionist he finds ways and a passion for using food as medicine, instead of being prescribed one from a pharmacy or doctor. Unlike Dr. Diana Hoppe’s five benefits, he believes there are seven benefits of dark chocolate which should be looked at closely. He goes more into detail of the qualities the ingredients in dark chocolate contain. Not only that, but he also discusses each health benefit carefully accrediting other studies done on this particular topic. Furthermore, he talks about the nutrition of dark chocolate, as well as it precautions, its history, recipes and places where he recommends you buy it. His apparent purpose is to persuade the audience that we should consume dark chocolate in order to better our health. He also states that consuming minimal processed dark chocolate is a “healthy chocolate that contains the most powerful antioxidants and the least amount of sugar, providing the most benefits of dark chocolate you can get” (Dr. Axe, 2017). However; when we think of chocolate we tend to believe its harmful food because its sweet and made in factories, but in reality dark chocolate contains more flavanol content then white or milk chocolate does.
