Darh Vader Costumes

For parents, Halloween is the scariest holiday. It is unnerving enough that kids walk around in the dark asking strangers for candy. Some of the kids' costumes, though, can make the hairs on the back of parents' necks stand up. Halloween costume options are often skirts that are too short, shorts that are too tight, tights that are too sheer, and the outfits that are misogynistic. Little girls' costumes are too often frightening thanks to their reliance on sex appeal.
While boys wear the body suit Spider-Man costumes or the two-piece policeman suit, girls’ costumes are simplified to a similar design attached to a mini-dress. Why can a boy be a cop, but a girl has to be a sexy cop? Why does a 12-year-old girl have to be a sexy Darth Vader? Darth Vader is not even sexy! Girls who are 12 should not dress

Parents and their girls can create cool, age-appropriate costumes right at home.
Parents may be familiar with the 1980s cartoon “Jem” or the trailers for, “Jem and the Holograms,” a movie coming out just days before Halloween. So here’s a simple costume idea to dress little girls up as Jem. She wears a hot pink dress, a silver sash, a set of large, red star earrings, bright-colored leggings, pink face paint, and big pink hair! Parents and their girls will have a great time creating their Jem.
Another option is the classic black cat costume with some black face paint, a black t-shirt and leggings, and makeshift cat ears and tail. For the ears, take black craft felt and cut out the desired shape, including an extra length of material. The extra material will be folded to the back, leaving enough space to slip the finished ears onto a headband. For the tail, take a pair of old stocking and cut one leg to the desired length, stuff it with cotton balls, and tuck the top into the leggings. And finally, for the face, do whatever feels and looks

With Halloween taking place just about a month ago and me being a first-year college student, I found it suitable to choose a topic that related to both college and the holiday that so many of America’s youth actively participate in these days. So, I began my research; through countless amounts of Google searches and digging through all sorts of news websites, I finally found an interesting article from The New York Times. The title was “Why Halloween at College Is So Frightening” and was written by a man named Mark Bauerlein who teaches at Emory University. The periodical starts off by explaining the scary effects that Halloween can induce on the students and administration across many of today’s college campuses. This is particularly because…

When teachers give dress code violations to a girl for wearing shorts that are too short or because her choice in clothing is ‘innappropriate’, you are telling her that hiding her body and normal female parts (such as stomach, shoulders or thighs) is more important than her education. You are also telling her that a boys’ disturbance-free learning is more significant than her disturbance-free learning. Obviously some degree of dress code is important but shoulders, stomach and thighs should not be classed as inappropriate or distracting. The school dress code treats males and females differently.…

Everyone has their own opinion on what attire is appropriate for school; some people may feel that some of the clothes that the girls wear is “too much”, but what exactly is too much? A majority would say that revealing shoulders and bra straps are inappropriate, but others would think differently. While some of the clothes people wear shouldn’t be worn in a learning environment, society shouldn’t be biased and make a fair dress code for both male and female students because it can make female women students ashamed of their bodies, which is degrading and makes them out to be sexual objects. With male students having the privilege to wear almost whatever they want, it makes females feel like they should cover up their bodies due to the fact that their bodies can distract boys from getting an education.(Since a females education isn’t as important). There has been many incidents where a female student would be taken out of class or sent home because her shoulders were showing or was wearing shorts on a hot day.…

Children are waiting for this day, they lie in wait month by month and plot what costumes they will wear on this day; they figure out who amongst their friends and family will gather the most candy; this day is called Halloween. Halloween is the one day in the whole year where people and children alike dress up in costumes and go door to door in order to accumulate candy, however, one would not think that Halloween was not always a child-friendly holiday but had a shadowy and foggy past. Halloween then and Halloween now are completely two different people. Halloween in the past was first a day that marked a new season, but soon became a time where terror resides in the hearts of the Celts. Halloween today, has taken a dark turn where sadists and commercialization have sucked the fun and the historical truth out of Halloween.…
