What’s beyond the doors of DARE class? What goes on in there? Do you want to know? Well, hop on board because I’ll tell you. DARE class is unforgettable because of the encouraging learning experiences, how the DARE Decision Making Model (DDMM) helped me, and last but not least helping me make a plan of how I will make and use responsible choices in the near future. I knew the facts of what we learn at DARE, but actually being in DARE came the understanding. In case you didn’t know peer pressure and stress comes hand in hand and are very hard to avoid. Their main target is usually school. Everyone wants to fit in somewhere. Right? A lot of people do want to fit in a crowd, so you’d probably do whatever it takes to fit in and stay put. In addition, there are more than 200 known chemicals in cigarette smoke. Yes, I said ‘known.’ Out of all the harmful chemicals in cigarettes, Nicotine is the worst. Nicotine is a powerfully addictive substance. Even more addicting that your favorite type of cake fresh out of the oven with the scent of it everywhere. I got you hungry there, huh? Anyway, vaping was created. It’s just like smoking but it doesn’t have Nicotine in it. I still think it’s as harmful as smoking, though. Isn’t it awful that people can die by inhaling the smoke smoked by smokers even though they don’t smoke? That is second-hand smoke, and there are 50,000 deaths like that per year in the USA. Why would you smoke if you knew that it causes early aging, yellows your teeth, mouth cancer, tooth loss, colds, upper respiratory problems, heart diseases, and nicotine in cigarettes and chewing tobacco reduces the amount of blood that flows to your brain? Be confident and say NO to drugs. When you're confident while speaking it gives you a silent way of saying,”I know what I’m talking about.” Unlike demanding and unsure communication styles confident communication has a %100 accuracy. DARE has two meanings, did you know that? Well, the most known meaning is Drug Abuse Resistance Enforcement, but there’s another like I said. That one means Define Assess Respond Evaluate. The second meaning is better associated with the DDMM, for it is the steps you take when making a decision. You can’t have a problem without knowing what it is, right? So first off you have to define the problem whether if it’s a broken leg, tryouts or other things like that. What exactly is define? Define is describing the problem, challenge, or opportunity. Defining a problem doesn’t mean it has to be a life or death kind of problem. It could be a minor problem like, what should I wear to school today. Well, you can wear jeans and a T-shirt, or a shirt and a skirt, etc. You just assessed your problem. Assessing means going through your choices like I just did. While assessing you have to write or think about every possible choice. After assessing you have to make a choice, respond, you can't go choiceless. Would you go with jeans or a skirt? Jeans was a good idea because it allowed you to move freely from and to classes. See! I just did it again. I evaluated my choice. Your decision isn’t always going to be a good one. For example, instead of moving freely from and to classes in jeans. You would be walking uncomfortably. The DDMM changed the ways I approach my problems, in a good way. Before the

Adalaide left because before she ran away she was never allowed to do anything for herself or make any decisions. One of the many examples in the book is on page 7, Adelaide and her grandmother discussing the arrangements of the wedding after meeting her would-be husband, Lionel. Adalaide is immediately repulsed by him, with no sense of humor, or confidence within himself; Lionel is the worst option Adalaide could have. Following the meeting, while Adalaide is attempting to talk herself out of the marriage, her grandmother says “You’ll have people making decisions for you your entire life. Get used to it”.…

The Commentary Rough Draft DeVry University Composition Course Number: ENGL112 Professor: Paul Wiltz Date: 8-12-2017 Although Many people are led to believe that vaping is just as, if not more dangerous than the conventional cigarette due to ignorance of the device, general safety of e-cigs, and their appeal to children, research shows that this is not the case. E cigarettes and vape pens have been around since 2003, but they recently had an explosion in popularity as a smoking cessation device, or a recreational way of delivering nicotine and flavorings in a presumably harmless way. An E cigarette is a simple device that typically uses a 3.7V battery, a small wire coil around a wick, and e-liquid or e-juice to create a nicotine and flavor containing vapor to the user just as a conventional cigarette would. E juice and E liquid are generally composed of four main ingredients, Propylene Glycol (PG), Vegetable Glycerin (VG), nicotine, and flavorings. E-cigs, vape…

T-shirt or shirt, jean or pant, tie or no tie, these are among the hardest decisions to make. Some students tend to like being dressed up, despite the fact that they are just going to a regular school day. They ought to wear fancy clothes, colorful dresses, in which they need to check once or twice inside the closet until they have their preference, ending up being late to school. As the saying goes, rather than paying our time looking at our wardrobe, we can literally put on the school uniform to save time, dressed formally just like their peers. Indeed, in comparison to regular school uniform, those luxurious clothes are much more expensive.…
