Daphne du Maurier, also called “Lady Browning” is a British author.
She was born on May 13, 1907 to a creative, wealthy, successful family, rich in history. George du Maurier, her grandfather, was an author, as well as a cartoonist. Her mother was the actress Muriel Beaumont, and her father Gerald du Maurier was a well-known actor-manager. Her uncle was an editor and she was cousins with the Llewelyn-Davies boys, who were the inspiration for J.M. Barrie’s play, Peter Pan. She was introduced to many celebrities as a child. It is said this environment provided a base for Daphne’s artistic literacy.
Daphne du Maurier was born in London, and received her education both there and in Paris. Despite this, she spent most of her life in Cornwall.
