I felt that it would be interesting to read the book and compare the author’s depictions of the places to how I saw them with my own eyes. I also saw movies based on Dan Brown’s novels Angels & Demons, and The Da Vinci Code. I was able to connect to Sienna because although she was playful, due to her depression, she was trying not to relapse and keeping a positive attitude was a necessity for her. I felt like I was reading about myself as Dan Brown was portraying her personality. As a child, Sienna liked to be liked, trying to fit in and pretending to do so. I was able to completely relate to that as someone who had grappled with the question of why I looked different from others at school. Sienna wasn’t positive at all times as she couldn’t trust anyone. Sienna Brooks is a very admirable character. As a teenager Sienna ran away from home and lived by herself, even while being poor, and also was diagnosed with telegenic effluvium, a stress-related alopecia. Despite all this she was still able to make her way to becoming one of the best doctors in Florence. Her character shows that nothing is impossible for a person to achieve and depression is something one can overcome and achieve the goals they set for
