Dante was a married man but he wasn’t happy, he was married to Gemma, but he fell in love with a woman named Beatrice. It was love at first sight, but something tragic happened Beatrice died. It was love at first sight, he began to study philosophy and the machinations of the Florentine political scene. The language that the poem was written in was vernacular Italian, instead of the more acceptable latin or greek. Dante had three sections in the work he divide them into Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. The journey of the Inferno lasts from the night before Good friday to the wednesday after Easter in the spring of 1500. Dante’s goal in writing this poem is a warning to a corrupt society to steer itself to the path of righteousness.
