Summary:

I believe I had so many issues with it because I had a hard time relating or imagining what was going on. As you can see from my summary there were times where I was confused and skipped sections or grazed over potentially very important parts, because I didn’t realize what they were. When thinking about what I could relate this to the only thing that came to mind would be comparing it to Scrooge, which is probably a long shot. In Scrooge the main character is greedy and has fallen off of the path of what is right, much like how Dante has fallen of the path of righteousness. The character is then visited by several ghosts who show him his life and why he must change if he does not want to be punished in the afterlife. I compared the ghosts that visited him to the circles of hell Dante must travel through. Each step is unique in the since that it shows the main character why they must change as well as they grow in severity. At the end of Scrooge he sees his tombstone and at the end of Dante’s journey he sees Lucifer himself. Both stories use scare tactics to try and convince the main character to change their ways, so they are not punished for it
