students being viewed equally and encourage uniqueness. This will ensure that any student who recently joins the classroom has a smooth transition. Removing the stressors of society away from the classroom in terms of diversity will create a culture where students will feel safe and will be willing to learn; as a result enthusiasm amongst students will be created affecting their learning positively. Danielson supports this effective teaching strategy; “teachers who are successful in creating a culture for learning know that students are, by their nature, intellectually curious, and that one of the many challenges of teaching is to direct the students' natural energy toward the content of the curriculum. They also know that students derive great satisfaction, and a sense of genuine …show more content…
For instance if a child is given a picture of a duck, then a picture of an abstract image such as an ink blot image; then he/she is asked to evaluate what each image is. The response to the picture with the duck will be clear and precise. Meanwhile the response he/she will give as to what the ink blot image is would be unclear. Meaning that students must be able to connect with what is being taught visually or tapping into their students sensory abilities. When teachers challenge students and stimulate them using different sensory cues such as sight, smell, taste and touch; they are tapping into their sensory memory. “Sensory memory is the information stored that briefly holds stimuli from the environment until they can be processed. Before the learner can start making sense of a written words on the board, his/her visual register needs to hold the image of the word in his sensory memory" (Moreno, 2010, p.197). Teachers should establish an environment that promotes high order thinking yet make the material comprehendible to ensure that the student is learning the objective of the

Two of the Effective Educator Goals that I have chosen to provide rationale on are, Manages & Motivates and Reflects on Practice. I feel very strongly that most students, when given a positive, encouraging, and nurturing learning environment, can motivate themselves to be socially interactive and engaged in their own education. When students see your positive energy, feel your desire to learn, and know they are an asset to your classroom; most often will put forth the effort to be an active participant. I have had differentiated environments to meet the needs of certain individuals to promote a supportive and meaningful environment that was conducive to learning.…

Having access to facilities where families can utilise equipment and resources with the aim to enhance socialisation for their children can greatly impact families as children are often excluded from social and or sporting events which form essential connections for the developing child. Isolation is often a factor of having a child with a disability or additional need as some areas may not accommodate these needs (Clarke, 2006). Each child is unique regardless of their impairment or needs, therefore accessing facilities and services that recognise this very important and an integral aspect in addition is essential for their continued growth and education. The Behavioural Perspective The phrase ‘child displays challenging behaviour’ is often misconstrued as the child has a disability or additional need.…

I found that the microteaching lesson was a great way to gain experience in following our lesson plans and getting important feedback that can help further our development as an educator. After my microteaching lesson and upon reflecting, I have found that there are several areas that I need to work on. I need to work on creating written instructions to planned activities, help students create evidence based arguments, and create supports for students with IEPS, 504s, and ELL students. Some aspects I think I did well in are helping students to make connections with each other and engaging students by moving around and creating models.…

Haim Ginott In creating a dynamic and positive learning environment, I feel that having positive relationships between the teacher and the students is highly essential. Not only do these relationships help with the behaviour management of a class but they also contribute to learner’s engagement and them trying harder with their work to impress the teacher. Haim Ginott was a school teacher, psychologist and psychotherapist who believe that the teacher’s personal approach is the most influential element in creating the ‘climate’ that contributes to children behaviour in the classroom, whether that being positive or negative (Manning and Bucher, 2001). His idea that the behaviour and language of the instructor sets the tone for learning in the…

Individual reflection by Tay Huiwen Emerlyn “A positive classroom culture is characterized by a non-threatening atmosphere where students feel that they are able to speak, offer ideas and take risks without fear of reprisal or mockery” by Caitrin Blake (2015) from Concordia University. This definition of positive classroom culture strikes a chord with me, as I believe that without a positive and healthy environment, where student feel physically and emotionally safe, it is difficult to effectively teach any content. Its importance is again highlighted in the Singapore Teaching Practice (STP) Framework; positive classroom culture is part of the 4 teaching processes in the STP. In session 2, we learned that establishing interaction and rapport,…

Depending on where students are in the various stages of social development will determine how students learn the most effectively, what obstacles may present themselves, and how to best encourage and recognize student success in the classroom. During early education it’s important for educators to identify any difficulties in social-emotional areas, due to the fact identification and intervention can be most effective during the early stages of these difficulties (Aubrey, & Ward, 2013). Teachers can play a major role in promoting a positive sense of self in the classroom. Promoting diversity among students, avoiding gender stereotyping, and allowing students to try on different roles within the classroom, will help students find areas in which they are successful, and generally help promote a greater sense of self. Teachers should be encouraged to promote a positive verbal environment because it can help student’s foster positive feelings and beliefs about themselves and their accomplishments.…
