Danielle Spencer was born June 24, 1965 (cancer), in Trenton NJ. Her mother Cheryl Pelt was a writer who remarried to Tim Pelt. Danielle Spencer is currently married to Garry Fields (1999) she began her acting career in the hit tv show “What’s Happening!!” The show only ran for 3 years total however during the second season of the show on Sept 7, 1977 Spencer and her stepfather, Tim Pelt were involved in a tragic car accident that left Tim dead and Spencer in a 3 week coma. Tim apparently died protecting Danielle, and while she has no memory of the accident she always thought of Tim as her true father. It was later discovered the accident also left her unable to have children with her husband but their decades of marriage have withstood the tests and trails Her mother decided to move the family to the Ivory Coast in Africa where Spencer can into contact with a very affluent group of people who looked just like her, and while reviving from the accident I kept her spirits up seeing that she to could one day be someone great. …show more content…
In 1983 after moving back she attended the University of California to obtain a veterinary medicine, however, she only stayed for two years due to the making of “What’s Happening Now!!” In 1996 she attended Tuskegee University to obtain a degree in Veterinary medicine due to encouragement from her late stepfather. She had been working as a veterinarian for more than ten years when in 2004 after experiencing balance and chronic pain issues she was diagnosed with spinal stenosis due to the injuries she received in the car accident in 1977. A surgery to correct the problem left her partially paralyzed for eight months. Spencer left Los Angeles to receive treatment at The Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in New Jersey. She thanks the institute for returning her life back to normal.
