The Effects of Shooting at University and College Campuses on Enrollment Enrolling in an institution can be a very exciting thing for a prospecting student, and it is good for the school as well. The amount of enrollment affects the outlook of the school as a whole. If the institution does not reach a certain limit of enrollment then the money they receive to perform the school is diminished; this also limits the amount of money colleges and universities can give out to the students. Reputation is everything for any school, and without positive academically progressed students the school will not thrive. In “Thestar.com”, some students at York University are not threatened by the tragic shooting that occurred on their campus (Diebel). It is accurate that some students do not let a tragic event affect their academic decision especially, if the school has a great program reflected toward the student’s major. These students went with their daily routine at York University, some even ignoring their parent’s calls the following day of the event (Diebel). In different cases students feel like every school has negative feedback. Every school receives positive and negative feedback, but the enrollment is what keeps the school stable. The enrollment controls the expense the school receives and reassurance of safety brings more prospective students. Great enrollment ratings receive more expenses which benefits the students. In the “School Violence” manuscript the schools provides activities based from student body enrollment (Duplechain and Morris). On “How Students (Really) Decide,” students decide to maintain at an institution by social media and safety reassurance (Rogers). If the institution was as concerned as the students at York University, the enrollment rate would have diminished dramatically.
