Dangote Cement PLC is one of the companies that constitute the Dangote Group; it is a Conglomerate and it owns diverse businesses. Dangote Cement PLC was established in 1981 by Aliko Dangote who also serves as the chairman of the Board. The company currently has three cement production plants in Nigeria. Dangote Cement PLC started as a trading business in Nigeria with the sole purpose of importing bagged Cement and other consumer goods for sale to consumers within Nigeria. However, its steady growth led to the importation of bulk cement which is then bagged and distributed within the country.

It competes as a price-leader in the cement industry on the continent. Through its self-sustaining and independent strategy, Dangote Cement PLC is able to meet the high demand for cement in Nigeria and has reduced Nigeria’s dependence on cement import; this has helped to make the product more available in Nigeria and in Africa at a cheaper rate. Dangote Cement PLC achieved this through the establishment of cement production facilities in Nigeria and across Africa

Target Market
Dangote Cement PLC seeks to meet cement demand based on identified demand drivers for cement in Nigeria and Africa, these drivers include Gross Domestic Product growth across Africa, growth in middle-class consumerism, population growth, high rate of urbanization, high deficits in housing and infrastructure, and increased infrastructural investments among other drivers .
Its target markets include individuals, construction companies, Governments and other business that will require building structures or other constructions that require cement.

Physical resources: it utilizes mineral resources such as limestone, silica, alumina, and others required in generous amounts for the production of cement which makes them essential resources for the running of Dangote Cement PLC .

Financial resources: Cement production is capital intensive, as such, the company also has to source for capital through bank loans and from its investors and shareholders.

Intellectual and Human resources: The company also requires expertise for the management and day to day running of the organization; Dangote Cement PLC has a staff strength of fifteen thousand three hundred and fifteen employees .
