Did you know, if you allow your children to use your cell phone it could cause them to have health problems as they grow up. They could have health problems such as “brain tumours, other cancers, genetic damage, and reduced fertility” (mobile wise). Cell phones are dangerous to your health and safety for everyone, young and old. Radiation can be the worst in time in the stage of childhood. It has been said by The International Agency for Research on Cancer that cell phone radiation could be a cause for cancer. Lastly, having cell phones and driving can be very dangerous, even if you are using a hands free device. Cell phone radiation could cause you to have health problems such as cancer or brain tumors. There have been three main reasons why people have been worried that cell phones causing cancer. For one thing, “cell phones emit radiofrequency energy (radio waves), a form of non-ionizing radiation. Tissues nearest to where the phone is held can absorb this energy”(National Cancer Institute). Secondly, it has been found that cell phone are increasing in the number of people that use it. In 2010, 303 million people in the United States were subscribed to a phone service. Thirdly, Over time, the number of cell phone calls per day, the length of each call, and the amount of time people use cell phones have increased. Accidents are more likely when people use cell phones. “The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that driving distractions, including the use of cell phones, contribute to 25% of all traffic crashes. According to researchers at the University of Utah people who drive while talking on their cell phones are as impaired as drunk drivers with a blood alcohol level of 0.08%.”(ProCon.org). If you use your phone while driving you could find yourself in this case scenario. “One day you are driving along you look at the road. ‘It surely is a pretty day’, you think. You just can’t wait to be home for the holidays. All of the sudden your phone starts talking to you. Your mom just texted you. Your mom always said never to text and drive. You really want to answer your mom. You look around on the road. It is snowing a little, but it does not look like any cares are coming. You pick up your phone and start to text your mom back. POUCH! A semi runs into the back of your car. You slid, you flip, you feel pain. The next thing you know you are in a hospital bed with your mother weeping over you.” Is that really where you want to be over a holiday or any time? Before grabbing your phone while driving, hold your horses.
