2. Thinking my experience now, all I cared about was to win every match. At the same time, it was very tough for me to practice and study. During the practice, I used to think that it was not worth working that hard because of the fact that my coach pushed me very hard in order to prepare me well for competitions. It was not an easy task for a young kid. However, winning changed everything, what I mean by this is all those hesitant thoughts instantly disappeared when I win matches. #1- When overzealous parents and coaches impose adult standards on children’s sports, the result can be activities that are neither satisfying not beneficial to children.
#3- One readily understandable danger of overly competitive sports is that they entice children into physical actions that are bad for growing bodies.
#5- Besides physical hazards and anxieties, competitive sports pose physiological dangers for children. Martin Rablovsky, a former sports editor for the New York Times, says that in all his years of watching young children play organized sports, he has noticed very few of them smiling. “I’ve seen children enjoying a spontaneous pre-practice scrimmage become somber and serious when coach’s whistle blows”
4. From reading Statsky’s essay I learned that some children who play sport does not compete for their enjoyment, rather they play for their coaches and their parents high expectation for them to perform well. Moreover, many children face serious damages both physiologically and physically, which bring deleterious effect later in their life.
5. I was surprised to read the article by Jessica Statsky because of the fact that competitive sports for children in elementary school does bring more damage than they bring benefits. Damages are such as, injuries, fear of doing poor, and also children get disappointed for not getting selected by the team. In conclusion, competitive sports between children of elementary school is not very recommended, and therefore it should be more taken care
