Dancing Play Review

“Dancing Lessons” Review At first, when I found this play I didn't think it was going to be actual play because of the title, but once I got there I understood why it was called “Dancing Lessons.” I enjoyed this play more than I thought I was going to. The story it had, the comedy, simplicity, and many more aspects of the play I enjoyed. It was at Riverside Theatre in Iowa City, I personally really like that theatre because of how small it is, and how close you feel to the actors. From the costumes, to the set designs, to the actors, to the “special effects.” I thought all of these aspects were really well done that all came together to make this play a great one. This play was super modern, with a really great story line. It was about a man with Asperger’s wanting to get dancing lessons from a professional dancer, it was super funny, with many touching moments, and really funny moments. They end up becoming really close, and they pretty much fall in love with each other. The actors …show more content…
I liked being able to relate to plays somehow, so it was fun to be able to sing along to the songs that were playing. Something else that stood out to me, was how well Ever and Sunga could dance, towards the end of the play they were slow dancing at Ever’s dinner, and they started out slow and then all of a sudden they started dancing really well, doing moves that you wouldn't see people do everyday unless they were on Dancing with The Stars or something like that. All in all, I really enjoyed this play. It wasn't only humorous but it gave me an inside of how people with Asperger's act and how their minds work. Not only, was it a good play, but I also learned some things as well, which is always a bonus. I would definitely recommend this play to people over the age of 18, because there were some inappropriate lines, and actions. It’s definitely a play worth someones times, and I'm glad I got the chance to see

John Moore’s production of Sweeny Todd was a refreshing take on the classical tale. The artists brought to life a convincing dark comedy on how revenge and violence can consume a person until they are blinded by it. I believe the artists not only wanted to elicit a response from the audience but also leave them with a warning about the horrors of revenge and the importance of letting go of what is hurting your heart and soul. First, for the most part the musical accomplished their purpose. The audience from start to finish was enthralled by the production.…

Theatre reviews are an integral part of the theatre, without reviews how do audiences know what they should go see and what they should avoid? The two examples of mass media chosen for comparision are two theatre reviews of the current stage musical ‘Dirty Dancing’. I chose to take the reviews from two different reviewers from different websites, Brian Godfrey for Glam Adelaide and Vito Mattarelli for Australian Stage. Glam Adelaide is a website which is dedicated to revewing and writing stories on local south Australian businesses and update their audience with what is happening in Adelaide, and overall supporting tourism for the state. Australian Stage is a national theatre website specialising in reviews for any type of theatre happening…

The orchestra did a fantastic job with the music and I was amazed at the girl who performed the flute at the very beginning. The director was trying to allow the audience to appreciate the fondness of a British comedy by delivering it correctly. This production took months of preparation by all of the production staff and performers and the directors hoped that the hard work would over take every…

It is casts by Catherine Zeta Jones as Velma Kelly, Renee Zellweger as Roxie Hart, Richard Gere as Billy Flynn, Queen Latifah as Matron “Mama” Morton and John C. Reilly as Amos Hart (IMDB.com). The first scene, Velma murdered her husband and sister for cheating on her and hid the gun in her drawer while Roxie’s scene, upon learning that her boyfriend will not help her to become a star, she took the gun inside the drawer and shot him. These made me perspicacious about the image of the gun which foreshadows dangerous event.…

I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable and funny the play actually was. The cast was very animated and absolutely adorable! The stage was small and the audience was close around the stage which added to the enjoyment of the performance. The props and costumes seemed to be from the 1940’s and well placed around the stage. The hidden doors that actually swung open and closed were fabulous and was used perfectly with the story.…

The performance meant a lot to me because it gave me a whole new perspective in the importance of dancing. The dance represented a familiar scenario which I recognized in professional theaters. This was worth my money and time because I was amused and thrilled with new content. The theme of the dance was easy to recognize because of the performers body language and visual appearance. It basically let me know whether it was dark or happy themed.…
