One of the most important morals my mother has ever taught me was perseverance. She always reminded me that if I committed to it, I wasn’t going to be able to quit just cause I was tired of it. I was never able to give up or back out on anything even if it was as little as committing on going to a birthday party as a kid. It was exasperating to hear growing up, but because of the constant reminder from my mother it became embedded in me and shaped me into the person I am today. In middle school, my friends and I decided to tryout for the dance team my sixth grade year because we thought it would be fun. Little did we know that it was going to be a challenging experience, especially for my friends who never danced before. It was the second day of the clinic and all my friends wanted to quit, so of course being apart of the group, I was going to do the same. I told my mother that I was incapable of learning the dance and wanted to stop going to the clinic. Of course my mother being the way she is did not let me quit and told me I had no choice. So for the rest of the week I worked hard and pushed myself knowing that I had no choice so might as well make the most of it. The tryouts were that saturday and I was one of the two sixth graders that made it that year. If I wouldn’t of tried out I would’ve never been given the chance to explore the world of drill team that later became my passion.
