Dance Observation Paper

Dancing, it is harder than it looks. It does not matter if you are teaching it, learning it, or practicing hard, when it comes to it, at end of the day everyone struggles just as much. Being a dancer, requires a lot of potential, motivation and drive. During the past couple of days, I have had the opportunity to watch beginning dancers, advanced dancers, and instructors who have been dancing for a majority of their life.
I had never before seen live dancers, so I was very amused that some of my companions could do the same moves as the actors on the dance films we watch during class. The one technique class that I observed was Tap Dance 1. I decided to watch this class not only because it was a perfect fit with my schedule but because I was motivated by the Academy Award Winning Movie La La Land. Having never before observed a technique class, I did not really know what to expect besides seeing an instructor teach the students different moves and techniques. While I sat in the corner watching the students warm up by doing different tap techniques, I was amazed when I saw one of my friends had walked in and started warming up with the rest of the students. After I saw him dancing, I was astonished by how literally anyone can do these dances that look so difficult with a little bit of practice. It was very fun and entertaining to watch other students learn and practice their new dance moves.
When we were first told that we were going to have to observe a rehearsal along side with the dance technique class I got really excited. I always wondered what it was like when the dancers were preparing for dance shows or festivals. When I first got to the theater room, I was really surprised by how small the room actually is.
