Dance Evaluation Late evening around 8.00 P.M. I entered the California Theater to participate the dance festival. It was my first time to see professional dance performance. The building was amazingly huge and luxury. It is completely different from my high school dance’s performance. People in the theater showed respects to one another as well as kindly services from employees. Before the shows start, I checked the band and instruments information and dancers from Bucher. The music played by San Jose Chamber Orchestra, which was very amazing. There were Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass and Piano. I used to dislike Jazz, Orchestra and Oprah because there are boring for me. Nevertheless, the rhythm from the band was beautiful and gorgeous. Also, a variety of chance. In the beginning, it was a group dance around eight to nine people. Dancers came and danced funnily composed with funny music, like the show Pink Partner or Tom Jerry. They played around with one another. For example, when the light turn on they stayed in the post and in the next second before the light turn on again they changed the posts in the dark, which can never be easy for regular people. I am uncertain what type of dancing was, but I recalled the movement clearly because it was one of the most beautiful dances I have ever seen. I used to think that the only dance that can entertain me is hip-hop because of the beats, rhythms, outfits, and movement. Not anymore, after I saw the solo dance, it was truly beautiful. He danced like he lives in the heaven. His movement was slow and smooth. Most importantly, the facial expression from the dancer. It likes he totally understood the melody and enjoy with it. It was so much alike Ballet dancing, yet it looked much stronger than Ballet. One more thing, I believe that the purpose of the dancer was to show the definition of freedom. People are freely like a

The dance voiced the idea of a present force that influences the actions of the dancer leading to the natural instinct to kill. The dance gave off the impression of a primitive state through the erratic articulation of dancer’s bodies and their nude costumes. All of the performers would be considered amateurs in the dance discipline, most having only a year of dance experience from their public high school. This dance was a sassy, slower performance; using the dancers long lines to appear as a sexier routine. To make the dance more appealing numerous lifts were added and the technique of fall and recover was a common technique. The dance as a whole was a good attempt of having inexperienced dancers performing rather simple…

I attended Vento Sur’s concert at Glendale College on Oct. 3rd. Following the artist biographies, Vento Sur is a Calarts –All-Alumni group composed of Joao Junqueira, Julissa Bozman, Alex Bozman, and Jay Gravatt. They perform music in Spanish and Portuguese languages both. I saw many interesting instruments, and after other songs end the guitarist Joao Junqueira explained about the traditional instruments to audiences. First they performed Adentro Cojutepeque dance music from Mexico and violinist Julissa Bozman featured the song.…

The music was loud and I had to put earplugs in just to make it through the performance. The dancers were clapping their hands, posing, as the 80’s music played. The female performer with the purple and gold dress had a great catwalk. She was one of the best performers in that piece. “Intervertebral” by Cari K. Cunningham was really good.…

“Revive” is a work specifically about a husband and wife who are having relationship problems and are trying to repair their broken relationship. Likewise, the meaning of the dance could be more general and be taken to be about failed romantic relationships and the trials and tribulations that those people in the relationship go through to try and amend what is broken. One can tell that the piece has a romantic connotation because the dancers sensually touch each other and are constantly looking at one another throughout the dance. Likewise, it is easy to tell that the dancers have a failed relationship that they are trying to repair because, throughout the piece, the dancers dance literally together and close to each other. This piece was…

The five performers wore all black so that their bodies were not seen. This specific dance was a little different as you only saw their hands and nothing else. The lighting that was used were only shown from the mid lights that beamed only across the stage. The performers hands were constantly using canons of going in and out of the light and articulation through the fingers. This dance had a playful feel to it as they told a story of a little guy jumping off the cliff and jumping back up.…

The school auditorium is filled with proud parents and the glow of several hundred screens poised to capture the moment their precious stars take the stage. The music starts and a dozen little girls and boys start twirling and craning their necks to watch their dance instructor coach them from the wings. Most of their parents aren't concerned with the dance training their children are receiving. A friend of a friend told them about "Dolly Dinkle's Dance Academy" and so they signed little Susie up,bought her a pink leotard, and told her to have fun at dance class. However, "Dolly Dinkle" is not a qualified dance instructor.…

All the dancers that participated in it all had their own personal stories that they could relate to which made the dance so special. Everyone was truly happy to be performing and telling the story. Another thing that really worked well with the dance was all the different parts throughout the dance along with the formations. Never did I once get bored and drift off into space while that dance was on stage. The choreography was so dynamic and unique that you never knew what to watch because everything that was going on was so beautiful.…

My mood was jubilant that day because I was glad I came to that performance instead of staying home. I would have felt home sick with all that final review so it was pleasant and peaceful having entertainment for such a low cost but great performance. The movements I identified were a lot of the terms I went over in dance class from degage to grand battement, the list goes all over. The name of the performance should be called “The Art of Adventure” and it should be divided into subgenres which focuses on the main theme adventure. Adventure can be dim or bright but they always seem to have a long lasting well produced ending.…
