Described as "a composer of substance" with "superb choral writing—full of spine‑tingling moments", Dan Ernest Forrest Jr. is an accomplished composer, pianist, and music editor. He was born on January 7, 1978, in Elmira, New York. Other than his birthdate, nothing else is known about his early life. He received his education at Bob Jones University where he received a B.Mus. and an M.Mus. in Piano Performance. He also went to the University of Kansa where he received his D.M.A. in composition. He has also studied composition with Joan Pinkston, Dwight Gustafson, James Barnes, and Alice Parker; all of whom are composers.
