Damien Memorial School Analysis

Decent Essays
Damien Memorial School, we are brought together by what makes us different. We learn from each others experiences, mistakes and even our success. We are literally like a “mix-plate”, so many different things in one, but it does not matter, because it all fits well together. We are all brought together from all parts of the island and even from other states or countries, kind of like how teriyaki beef is from Japan, and Barbecue chicken is from America, but it doesn't matter because it all goes well together. Most of the schools on the island have students that live near. At Damien we have students from all the way on the other side of the island, even though they could have gone to their own local school. The things that bring most of us together, is our common interests. Our interests build friendships and we learn to not notice or care about our differences. Mostly everyone will find someone with a similar interest, whether it's playing sports, video games, music, or really anything, we are all seen as one. Another thing about us, is that even though we are a catholic school, we have acceptance to any other religion, I think this brings us even closer because we can learn to respect each other in more than just a physical or verbal way. …show more content…

Not because of the classes, but because of the students Just talking to anyone helps us to learn more about each other and the type of person they are. No matter where we were born, what nationality or ethnicity we are or even how smart we are, our school brings us together and we can choose our own road to go down in the end, whether it is with somebody, or

Comparing Freemont High to Maryville High High school should be a place where teens feel comfortable, and to a certain extent, free to make their own decisions. At Freemont High School (FHS), Jonathan Kozol interviewed the students’ attendance, and all of them said this school was none of the things it is supposed to be. Though Maryville High School, a small town East Tennessee school, is extremely different than Freemont High School, an inner city school in Los Angeles, at first glance, the two actually have a few things in common. When looking at what Jonathan Kozol’s wrote in his article about FHS, a Los Angeles high school called, “Freemont High School”, written in 2005, three similarities arise: crowded lunches, unsanitary conditions, and freedom. For example, I come from an Asian family, as both of my parents came to America as immigrants, my father from Vietnam and my mother from Lao.…

Students have taken it upon themselves to decide where someone is from and how they got here.…
