Damen Birtol An Overused Genre Analysis

Decent Essays
A guy in an unknown place get high and when he wakes up finds that a vampire is on loose. Will he survive the attack or be blood sucked.
Mark Schwab, the writer, director and editor of the film has shouldered the majority of work. The script was less engaging and predictable, and the lethargic acting has only added to the slowness. Damen Birtola handled the camera, framing only what needs to be seen and failed to add an interesting element to the film. There was not enough background score added to create a drama or thrill which in this genre has a plenty of opportunity.
An overused genre in a typical setup makes it a below average movie.

Genre analysis (GA) is an approach, with associated techniques, by which one analyses a text, based on parameters that help define the text as belonging to a certain genre. Early work in the language learning community included studies by Maher (1986) and Bhatia (1987), each of whom focused on genre in specific 8 professional writing areas; however, it was not until Swales published his 1990 study, Genre Analysis, that this approach was applied to multiple areas of discourse and became more fully embraced. Swales (1990) defined genre as a class of communicative events which have some shared set of communicative purposes which are identified by members of the specific professional or academic community in which the genre occurs. This definition…

After understanding that this was done intentional I don 't believe it’s possible to say that the film was necessarily “good” or “bad” because everyone 's interpretation and willingness to interpret is different when watching the film. If this openness was not intentional then I could understand why the film could be considered unsuccessful or “bad” but we know that it was intentional because the use of non-narrative storytelling, unreliable sources of information, and vague scenarios accompanied by a range of unanswered questions that left it up to the viewer to fill in the blanks. Some people like the freedom of a film like this that leaves concepts up to them and their own devices, while others much more enjoy the ease of being painted a complete mental movie by a filmmaker. Nonetheless, whether one will enjoy this film or not is completely up to them and their…

As I grew up, music was there for me at ever juncture of my life’s journey. When I was an anxious kid moving to a new area in elementary school, it offered me a release from stress and a way to bond with other students. Even without any shared tangible experiences with the other kids, I could relate to them through singing tunes of the popular music of the time. I listened to about 60 songs on my first-generation iPod Nano when I was alone in my room after school, and the consonant, uptempo music helped encourage me to go out and try my best to make new friends. Pop music was a significant factor in my adjustment to a stressful time in my life.…

3 Critical Analysis The writing style of the book might be hard to understand as the author have separated the historical background and his own point of view into two part, so that it might be not tight enough that let reader become confused. Also, the theme popular music have been separated by different kinds of music, but actually, different kinds of music actually somehow have relation to each others, and in this case, different type of songs become an individual thing that haven’t got relationship to each others. If the author can consider this problem, the theme will become more tight and the audience may not be confused to the theme.…

The first question asked in the readings and discussions that we went through in class is what exactly is the meaning of genre. To me personally, the word “genre” is it describes either a novel, film, video game or music by certain generic ideas or “rules” of what defines that specific genre. Stories can be described through narrative forms, such as if the writing piece is either a short story, a novel or even a poem or narration. Accordingly, stories can even be characterized by either similar themes or settings and/or if they follow a certain structure such as if a book is either defined as comedy or drama. Daniel Chandler explains perfectly in “An Introduction to Genre Theory” how genre itself is not always straightforward in defining things…
