Dallas High School Case Study

A 14-year-old, Ahmed Mohamed, was detained for bringing a “suspicious” device that his engineering teacher believed was a bomb. Ahmed, who attended Dallas high school was handcuffed by the police officers after the school officials accused him of having a bomb. The 14 years old received a lot of positive attention from Mark Zuckerberg and Pres. Obama, including state officials from Texas as a result of the inaccurate accusations.

Ahmed has evidently proved his brilliance multiple times by fixing his dad’s car, computers, and also building his own go-cart. The talented and gifted high-schooler has experienced insensitive prejudice from his teacher, whose job should be to support her students, and an educator whom the students should look up

Obama and Mark Zuckerberg showed a lot of support to Ahmed, and how what happened to him should not happen again to any other person who are vulnerable to such stereotypical reactions due to ethnic background. Mr. Obama invited Ahmed to the White House for Astronomy Night on Oct. 19, which is an event that is attended by scientists, engineers, astronauts, teachers and students to spend a night stargazing from the South Lawn.

I think what has happened with Ahmed is logical, because of the stereotypes and circumstances that we are currently going through, the teacher’s classical conditioning was met by a conditioned response, as a result, she did what she thought was best to the ensure the safety of the students. What is confusing to me is that the police’s reaction is not that of a response to a bomb threat, at least the school should have been evacuated or may be a bomb squad should have been clearing the situation on site, but none of that happened. I hope what happened was not to just shame him for who he is.

People’s opinions are going in every direction about this, some say that the detainment should not have happened and some say the teacher had every right to react that way. My opinion is that a 14 years old should never go through such an experience. Instead of arresting him, he should have been rewarded and how his raw talent should have been sharpened by his

We, the students of Mr. Roman Reshetov, would like to issue a formal complaint, as his teaching skills are inadequate to teach an Honors Chemistry class. To begin with, Mr. Reshetov’s time management is lacking. Extended periods of time are being spent teaching small portions of the curriculum while other portions are not even mentioned. Students are forced to teach themselves vast amounts of material that sometimes have not ever been mentioned in class. Also, in many cases, students are studying the wrong things because Mr. Reshetov does not provide adequate information as to what is expected to be known.…

I, Supreme Court Justice, Floyd McLeod, find in favor of Mohammed Achman. This case has proved to me that Mr. Achman 's rights as an U.S. citizen were violated multiple times. To go more in depth; on September 27, 2001, approximately two weeks after the terrorist attack of the World Trade Center, America, especially New York ,were on edge in finding any little details to get to the bottom of the attack and any future attacks. On Monday, October 26 in Columbia, South Carolina a confrontation between an officer and a high school student occurred. Deputy Ben Fields, the resource officer at Spring Valley High School, was called to a classroom to escort a student out due to her refusal to put away a cell phone. The student refused to leave the classroom upon the officer’s request so the officer flipped the student backwards in her desk and threw her across the floor. Several of the by standing students recorded videos of the incident, which provided evidence that was later reviewed and aided in determining the outcome of this altercation. Deputy Fields is a white male adult while the student is a teenage black female, which begs the question- is this a race issue?…

In his article “’Clock Boy’ and America’s Suicidal PC Tendencies”, Shapiro discusses his opinion on how the situation was handled. Ben’s biggest thought that he continues to bring up is the fact that all of these safety precautions would not have been taken if Ahmed Mohamed wasn’t Muslim. The decision to follow through with these safety procedures were based off of the Muslim terrorists in charge of 9/11, and the need to protect the country from further incidents. He also goes on to discuss how school systems are corrupt when it comes down to disciplinary actions due to potential threats. The punishments now come for much more innocent “threats” than they did before the attacks.…

I believe that it was unfair that the teacher, Alan Barron, was suspended. Mr. Barron was only doing what he thought to be moral when showing the students about the extent of racism in the past. This is a significant part of history and this teacher was doing his job by displaying an example that he felt will better explain their current chapter/unit. The video that Alan Barron showed to the students was to show them how the white people disguised themselves as African- Americans which was a way of mockery. In the past, white people viewed themselves as superior to black people, because of slavery which enable the white slave owners the right to have possession over the African-Americans.…

The fact that anti-plagiarism software can't tell the difference between accidental and intentional plagiarism is just one reason that Rebecca Moore Howard, a professor of writing and rhetoric at Syracuse University, is not a fan. Here's another reason: "The use of a plagiarism-detecting service implicitly positions teachers and students in an adversarial position," Howard says. Howard argues it's policing without probable cause. "The students have to prove themselves innocent before their work can be read and graded," she says. "These tools are like a hammer or a scalpel," cautions Dee. "…

Hey Mathew, There are great ideas that is presented within your discussion. I am quiet intrigued when you stated that Ahmed’s behaviour can set up as a bad example to other students. I do believe that it is unfair that Hugh is subjected to inequality in this scenario. There is obviously an issue with only acting in the best interest of Ahmed, which is the opposite of what the codes of ethics encourage (Code of Ethics, 2017). Although Di has implemented a policy that is quite frustrating and one-sided, it is not the best choice to completely ignore her to achieve equality.…

The 2013 Congressional Research Service report says SROs enforce laws on campus and act as a “problem-solver and liaison” to prevent local crime and teach students to avoid becoming crime victims (Botelho and Ellis ). Recently there has been controversy over whether it is appropriate for SROs to be in the classroom setting. SROs are needed in schools to protect students and make schools a safe place.…

With the recent decisions to refrain from bringing charges, many have begun to question the whole grand jury system. This situation has caused certain “leaders in New York [to call] for special prosecutors, or the attorney general, to investigate all fatal encounters” (McKinley & Baker, n.d.). Legal experts have said that because the prosecutors select a “special grand jury to investigate police-related deaths, they insulate themselves from the final decision, while appearing to fulfill the public desire for an independent review” (McKinley & Baker, n.d.). Due to these ongoing problems many citizens feel betrayed by the court system as evidenced by the Grand Jury decision not to indict the officers who were accused of the death of Eric Garner.…
