In the novel, the writer focuses on how men are dominant over women, particularly in the situation of Tom, who abuses women like Myrtle Wilson by using his physical strength to hurt or punish her.
Daisy in the novel is another character who does not have the control of her own life. Her relationship with her husband was very bad. Daisy depicted as a weak person who has no ability to change what she is unhappy with, especially her marriage.
Independent and freedom are not exist in her life. She thinks that foolishness is better than intelligence and therefore she said, “I’m glad it’s a girl.
