Audrie and Daisy is a documentary following two teenage girls that were sexually assaulted. The film begins in Saratoga, California where Daisy Potts was assaulted at a party; she was fifteen at the time. On September 3rd, 2012 Audrie and he friends sneak out to go to a party. Audrie become intoxicated to the point that she passes out. A couple of guys at the party write derogatory words on Audrie with marker and remove her clothing to write in inappropriate places. Two guys sexually assaulted her and took pictures of the event. Audrie had no remembrance of what took place. She sends a text her mom a few days later while at school saying “I can’t do this anymore.” Her mom picks her up from school and brings her home. Her mom explains that Audrie …show more content…
Their family had moved from Albany Missouri to start at a new school in Maryville because it was difficult for the family to drive past where their father passed away everyday. It wasn’t long into their new life that this traumatic event occurred. This made the event affect the whole family, especially Daisy’s brother who was friends with the guys that assaulted Daisy and her friend. Mathew Bennett, the guy that assaulted Daisy and was hosting the party was convicted and Jordan, who took the video, was originally convicted. Mathew’s family was well known in Maryville and had family that worked for the city. Matthew and Jordan ended up getting off from the charges due to lack of evidence, however it was clear it was due to Mathew’s family reputation in Maryville.
The majority of the citizens in Maryville and the students at Daisy’s high school were on Mathew’s side and made the situation worse for Daisy and her family. She was bullied at school, her mother was fired from her job, the Coleman’s property was vandalized, and their house was burnt down. The Coleman’s ultimately decided to move back to

CBT addresses the unrealistic or distorted cognitions about beliefs about the trauma and focuses on new experiences by causing interruptions in the relationship between cognitions, behaviors, and feelings. The goals of CBT are to change how the person evaluates their environment, thoughts and feelings, reduce problematic behaviors, teach healthy ways to cope with distressing thoughts, and improver the person’s mood and quality of life.
