1. What is happening in this poem? I feel that was is going on his this poem is; the brutal fight of a boy with is alcoholic father. The poet is showing you that he is very aware of what is going on with his father. He remembers what everything smells like, what everything felt like.

2. What is the poet’s emotional intention? The poet’s emotional intention is to show you that people pay attention to everything. The smell of his breath, the look on his mother’s face, the way his father’s hands felt the sadness of having to do the dance with alcoholic. He is also showing you the when he is being abused that he is noticing and taking a mental note of everything that is going on around him .
