Mumbai is a very populated productive city in India which has a lot of workers; but they can’t all go home for lunch each day so they come with their meal every day either it’s home cooked or carter, Mumbai’s Dabbwala collective does this service usually for a monthly fee;
The meals are cooked in the morning (by family or caterer), placed in dabbas boxes and delivered to each individual worker’s office at lunch time. After lunch the boxes are collected and returned so that they can be re-sent the next day. Dabbawalla hit 99.9999% dependability and is considered a very successful service and is based upon the five performance objectives: the cost, speed, flexibility, dependability and quality

The markings include the rail station where the boxes are to be unloaded and the building address where the box has to be delivered, from 10-12 midday Dabbas taken into Mumbai using the otherwise under-utilized capacity on commuter trains in the mid-morning, from 11-12 midday Arriving downtown Mumbai where dabbas are handed over to local dabbawalas which they distribute them to more locations where there is more work to be done like sorting and loading on to handcarts, bicycles and dabbawala, 12 midday – 1 pm Dabbas are delivered to appropriate office locations and are handed, 2 pm the reverse the whole process after lunch the empty boxes are collected from office locations to dabbawalas and returned to suburban stations, 6pm the empty dabbas are sent back to the estimated …show more content…
