Matt Dababneh, former Chief of Staff to Congressman Brad Sherman, was elected to the California State Assembly in 2013. He represents the 45th Assembly District communities of Calabasas, Canoga Park, Chatsworth, Encino, Hidden Hills, Northridge, Reseda, Sherman Oaks, Tarzana, West Hills, Winnetka, and Woodland Hills. A fourth-generation Valley resident, Dababneh was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles. After he graduated from UCLA, Dababneh worked on John Kerry's presidential campaign, where he was inspired to pursue a career in public service. As Chairman he plans to focus on increasing access to capital in underserved communities. Dababneh is also an active community volunteer and has served on the board of several local non-profit organizations. Dababneh’s volunteer work inspires him to help the struggling gain financial independence and improve their quality of life. He plans to pass a legislation that will improve the quality of life for all Californians. He has recently passed a Research Animal Adoption Bill, which will in end save the dogs and cats used in research funded by the taxpayers , these animals will then be placed in the care of a non-profit organization that will place the dogs and cats in homes. Dababneh also awaits the passing of the Vending Machine Food Sales Tax Exemption Bill, Enhanced Organized Crime Enforcement Bill, Digital Drivers License Mobile App, Identity Theft Prevention, Financial Affairs, School Credit Enhancement, and so many more. Some of the issues he touched on seemed to be, of little importance like his bills about electronic transactions, Bank of California, and Digital Drivers License Mobile App. He didn’t talk about the drought, how we can take the El Niño, and use it to our benefit, or address the drastic measures we should be taking to limit the flooding in our
