The most renowned form of art in existence, the Mona Lisa, was painted with oils on a wood panel and noticeably has no distinct lines separating each detail, but rather the colors blend into each other. This painting well displays the perspective created in the realism of the Renaissance, making the central point the mystery-woman, with a not-as-noticeable background. The background is filled with blurred brushstrokes representing trees with rivers and pathways. This painting is noted for the famous smile of woman, because some see the smile, some do not. Leonardo da Vinci was certainly the most well-known and celebrated genius in our modem history who showed his talent not only in painting and drawing, but his work has been exceptional in architecture, anatomy, engineering, military, sculpture, science, and so on. Leonardo’s impressive talent was quickly discovered by Andrea del Verrocchio in his workshop, where Leonardo started to work at a very young age, and continued working after he was ready to go on with his own commissions. “By all accounts Leonardo was a man who painted slowly, although he was capable of producing a finished drawing at incredible speed. In one of the five paintings made in Florence, Ginevra de’ Benci, he showed that he could paint with angelic freedom and responsibility, daring to do things that were virtually impossible.” (Payne, 1978) As we regularly hear from many art historic sources, this particular portrait of Ginerva was so real, that is seemed as it is not a painting but Ginerva herself.…

Martin Luther’s early life is characterized by a good education with a degree in the Arts that focused on grammar, logic, metaphysics and rhetoric which he earned from the University of Erfurt. In this discussion I will be analyzing the content of arguably Leonardo Da Vinci’s most iconic painting the Mona Lisa. The first interesting fact I learned about this portrait is widely believed to depict a woman named Lisa Gherardini the wife a wealthy of a wealthy silk merchant named Francesco del Giocondo. Furthermore, Da Vinci is thought to have intended to complete this portrait for the couple so they could commemorate the birth of their son, however he was never able to complete the portrait in time to gift it them. Although many dispute this account of the portrait's origin, scholars unearthed a note dated in 1503 written within the margins of book written by Agostino Vespucci which has seemingly solidified the account. The note, dated…

When comparing modern day beauty, such as that of Gisele Bundchen, Angelina Jolie, and Kate Middleton to the works created during the High Renaissance and Mannerism area, there are numerous similarities found alongside many differences. While some aspects of fashions have changed with the ages, others seem to remain timeless. Long, lustrous and thick hair has for the most part continually remained popular, particularly among women. Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa has long hair, worn over the shoulders and with a straight parted in the center. Additionally, Mona Lisa appears to be wearing a thin veil covering her curly hair, and while these aspects of the images are different, the overall style of her hair is comparable to that of Kate Middleton who is also seen with the same long hair, straight center part and over the shoulders.…
