Eddie Lovell, the character that Da Mayor sent off to buy a beer for, becomes a critical figure considering the fact that he participates in the reasoning on how Mother Sister and Da Mayor become more civil. When Eddie Lovell goes after the ice cream truck, Da Mayor notices that there is a car heading towards Eddie, so Da Mayor pushes him out of the way to prevent Eddie from getting hit. The resulting interaction with Louise and Da Mayor is slightly ironic. At first Louise probably came to a conclusion that Da Mayor is at fault after she hears Eddie explain that Da Mayor pushed him, but as Da Mayor explains that he only pushed Eddie to prevent him from getting hit causes Louise to toward her anger to Eddie. This event is a turning point from Mother Sister’s original assumption that Da Mayor is a lazy bum as long as she sees that Da Mayor takes action when it is most needed. From the beginning of the film, Mother Sister only understands that Da Mayor does nothing, but as she is witnessing a heroic act, she starts to understand that she may have a wrong judgement of Da Mayor. After Da Mayor says that he should be more heroic so Mother Sister will be nice to him, Mother Sister says that this heroic event will not change her negative attitude towards him. However, in their first altercation, Mother Sister’s tone of voice has changed to be more open to conversing
