The purpose of this article was to explain the benefits of mechanical DVT prophylaxis, however in the conclusion of this article, the researchers clearly encouraged other methods of prophylaxis, especially when is indicated. In this paper, the researchers presented several results from the Cochrane’s Library systematic reviews. Some results were based on trials where participants in the control group did not receive any DVT prophylaxis, while the participant in the treatment group had compression stockings on for the DVT prophylaxis. As far as straightening this study is concerned, I believe that the researcher presented information well in terms of pros and cons of mechanical DVT prophylaxis. Throughout the study they presented several different situation such as : results of studies on hospitalized patients, surgical patients, post-surgical patients, patient with brain diseases, and airline passengers. In addition to that they presented results of several meta-analysis studies where some patients were using graded compression stockings and the other group of patients had intermittent pneumatic compression devices
