DPT Program: A Case Study

Decent Essays
In addition to having a DPT and license to practice physical therapy, other credentials are required before one can be considered an educator to teach in a DPT program. Those that have earned their DPT are also required to obtain their American Board of Physical Therapist Specialists certification before qualifying to teach. Furthermore, the certification is not required for those individuals who have earned an advanced doctoral degree. In addition, the ability to communicate effectively would be extremely advantageous to successfully fulfilling a position such as an educator. Qualities such as being personable and comfortable public speaking will be vital to educating not only students, but patients, families, and other health professionals

Throughout the process of developing my application, I have gained skills that will make me a fantastic EWU DPT student. I have received multiple scholarships to help fund my education, but I still needed two to three jobs to help support myself. While being a full-time student and working part-time, I have managed to hold a 3.91 GPA, participated in extracurricular activities, and held leadership positions at Idaho State University.…

Although I am not currently a student of a doctor of physical therapy program, my personal, educational, and volunteer experiences have already begun to prepare me for my role as a future student of a DPT program. I can still remember the first time I had a personal experience involving physical therapy.…
