While DLPT-L/R tests results currently provide pay incentives, OPI-S will be introduced in order to determine speaking ability of the operator. SOF operators will in essence take a total of three test (DLPT-L/R and OPI-S) to determine complete linguistic capability. Currently, 7th Special Forces Group (SFG) (Airborne) (A) offers SOF operator the ability to take the OPI-S only after achieving a total score of 3/3 in the DLPT-L/R, and it has to be taken within 30 days of the DLPT test date. This would offer a unique opportunity to the SOF operator allowing him to always attain a minimal score of 3/3 by only taking the OPI regardless of score.
