HerShe was founded by MaCayla Rowe and Nicolle Loya. Once established, we recruited a small team of aspiring young leaders at the beginning of 2014, in the Central Texas area. As we identified a need for light in the darkest places of a girl’s life, the idea for HerShe was born. Being such a vital time of a young girl’s life, our main focus was to impact girls from as early as 6th grade to 23 years of age. The organization then began to share the importance of kindness, friendship, and positivity to the “girl world” in the surrounding area. The project was later introduced to our CCHS DECA Chapter in early 2015. As a DECA chapter, we decided to take this project on, increase the membership, and bring the idea to its greatest potential. DECA aided in increasing community involvement and expanding the organization by branching out to different age groups. What began as a small group of girls getting together and sharing experiences soon turned into
