The following are just a few of the many student-and-DECA events we held in order to bring support, self-confirmation, and inspiration to young women: Copperas Cove DECA knew exactly how to make this project a success, and continue to further it to this day. We were able to provide for a worthy cause while honoring all of DECA’s ideals and values. Our teams placed teamwork above all, working in not so ideal circumstances toward a common goal. We exemplified integrity in all our endeavors, making sure to always do the right and moral thing for these girls, even when nobody was looking. Innovation flourished as Copperas Cove DECA was able to come up with new ways to attract an audience through media and the products created to raise funds. We strived for competence in everything we did by ensuring our goals were met efficiently and on time. As we identified a need for light in the darkest places of a girl’s life, the idea for HerShe was born. Being such a vital time of a young girl’s life, our main focus was to impact girls from as early as 6th grade to 23 years of age. The organization then began to share the importance of kindness, friendship, and positivity to the “girl world” in the surrounding area. The project was later introduced to our CCHS DECA Chapter in early 2015. As a DECA chapter, we decided to take this project on, increase the membership, and bring the idea to its greatest potential. DECA aided in increasing community involvement and expanding the organization by branching out to different age groups. What began as a small group of girls getting together and sharing experiences soon turned into

It is a great pleasure to recommend Rachel Sitasz for admission to the Edward Hospital Student Volunteer Program. She is one of the most empathetic, kind, and exceptional humans I have encountered in my 14 years of teaching. I teach Rachel in my 8th grade advanced ELA class. Her academics, character, innate curiosity, intrinsic motivation, ethical standards, and unwavering desire to give back, have put Rachel in a class of her own. In fact, for the first time in over 25+ years, the eighth-grade team created a brand new end-of-the-year award for our graduation awards assembly.…

We started off the weekend by teaching the girls an acronym for effective communication: LEADSTAR.…

Governor’s School Last summer, I attended governor's school west where three hundred and twenty-five bright and open-minded students from all across North Carolina gathered for five and a half weeks in a college campus setting. To me, this was a big milestone in life that changed me for the better. We left our cozy lives of families and friends to start with a clean slate with strangers we’ve never seen in our lives. At first, we thought of it as a sacrifice of our summer to glamorize our college application, but throughout the program we experienced things that exceeded beyond our expectations.…

Middle Grades are probably the most difficult grades to get through for everyone. During this time of physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and moral development for these students learning about the history of Georgia is literally the last thing they think about, if they even really think about it at all. These students are some of the most difficult students to keep their attention focused on the subject matter at hand, unless of course we are discussing them, then and only then will the teacher get their full attention. During the observation assignment I noticed a few of the developmental theories that correlated with the five developmental stages of middle school students: Bronfenbrenner, Erikson, and Hall.…
