At my school, I am the President of my school's DECA chapter (DECA is an international student business competition). I assumed the presidency when I was in grade ten. For my DECA Community Service Project event in the fall of2014, I lead a team that ran a city-wide talent show called 'Niagara Fights Back!' in of memory Miranda Bauer, an A.N. Myer student who lost a battle with cancer.
One thousand dollars was raised and went towards her memorial fund at The Hospital for Sick Children, which finances research for the rare form of cancer that she had, rhabdomyosarcoma.
I had known Miranda since I was six years old. It was amazing to be able to support a worthwhile cause while and keeping Miranda's spirit alive. This year, even in the absence
