DCCCD Case Study

DCCCD is a large district for new students and employees to navigate. New employees are not able to see the big picture of leadership because of the time and attention to detail at the campus level. One campus in particular, North Lake, a sister college of the district, has its own campus president, President Slekjo, who reports directly to the Chancellor of DCCCD. President Slekjo currently has the following leadership practices and or responsibilities at North Lake- to provide strategic leadership to the campus in order to ensure North Lake remains in formation with the overall district, board of trustees and Chancellors’ initiatives, to be the liaison between the college and the community so that businesses, social organizations and students …show more content…
Even though the DCCCD Board of Trustees vote and establish the strategic priorities for the entire district at the suggestion of the Chancellor, President Slejko is responsible to adopt the priorities and customize them to best be executed effectively and efficiently at the campus level. Using NLC’s mission and values, President Slekjo has the responsibility to drive the adoption of four strategic initiatives at her campus- employee success, student success and completion, community engagement and institutional effectiveness. The value in this responsibility is the adoption of the strategic initiatives sets the culture of the campus and well as directs the core of day to day operations. Every single operation stems from the initiatives set. This adoption and reinforcement of the strategic initiatives provide support staff, faculty, and division deans’ empowerment to work autonomously, to be vested in the districts strategic goals, begin to envision innovative processes, and idea to help achieve the
