My daughter is not a fan of reading and has always put up an argument when she is asked to read her daily 20 minutes. In this paper, I propose that contemporary action movies portray the negative stereotype that women are not as important as the men in the world. In order to prove this point, I will examine the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. I will do so by examining this movie visually, through the types of clothing the character wear, the type of superpower the woman has, the amount of screen time for women, and through the camera angles shown throughout the movie. I will also examine this movie contextually through the storyline of the movie, if the woman is a sidekick or not, and if she dies.…

For the YA Interview assignment, I chose to interview one of my mom’s coworker’s sons. He is twelve years old and attends the 6th grade at Kinder Middle School. Something I learned during this interview about this student was that he is very passionate about reading and enjoys doing it rather than looking at reading to be more like a chore. Whenever I asked him if reading was something he enjoyed doing he responded with “Yes, I enjoy reading. Something else that I also enjoy about reading are the visual images I am able to make when I read a story.”…
