Valley Forge “One must not be overwhelmed by sadness,” (Kennedy). In Valley Forge, they had a very bad winter there, which caused frostbite and death. In 1775, they started the war of Valley Forge, which caused many illnesses. Many people get sick and end up dying of smallpox, which is a very deadly disease that most of the soldiers get here. Also, to make it better, most of our men are dying, and we are losing the war. In 1773, there was 310 streetlights installed in Boston, to make it better, instead of having to light at all. In 1786, there was America’s first golf club in South Carolina. In 1784, a 13-year old boy makes the first balloon ride in America. I have decided to not re-enlist for three reasons which are: there is bad health, the conditions are terrible, and the camp life or living at the camp is even worse.

In Document C, it states, “ … nasty cookery…” (Waldo 151). This quote shows that the food is getting poor, so that would make the soldiers health there very bad. In Document C it also says “...cold weather…” (Waldo 151). That means that the weather made the soldiers health very unacceptable.The health of the soldiers is very bad at this point (they all felt fatigued, Waldo 151). This information shows that they were all very sick. The soldiers don’t feel safe anymore,and are dying almost everyday. Then, ( a general told me that 2,898 people were sick on December 23, 1776, Bush 147). This information shows that a lot of people were sick and dying. This war is very hard to live in, and feel safe, or that you won’t soon surely die. This reason is causing me to not re-enlist because the sickness is making everybody’s health very poor.
