The NAFTA is likely gone, which might bring back some manufacturing jobs, but not as many as Trump supporters think. The Trans Pacific Partnership will be struck down by the legislature and we can expect an increase of tariffs on imports. If we do increase tariffs on imported goods, we can expect other nations to increase their tariffs on our exports. I'm concerned about the return of DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) and DADT (Don't Ask Don't Tell) or something similar. If they did return, would there be a grandfather clause connected to them? I could see that being possible for DOMA, but I doubt it would be feasible for DADT. Without a grandfather clause connected to DADT, what happens to currently serving openly gay personal?
While it it true that DOMA was struck down and gay marriage was protect by the Supreme Court, those cases were decided by slim 5-4 decision. In both cases, 3 out of the 5 majority justices were the 75+ aged justices. If Trumps fills the vacancy with a socially conservative justice, and just one of the 75+ old justices retires, the balance of power of the Court could shift in a direction that would allow a policy similar to DOMA to be reinstated and gay marriage protections to be struck down. With a strong conservative block, is there a chance that the Court will reverse its ruling on Roe v.
