D.A.C.A., the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program is what caused 15 states to sue the U.S. government. Present Donald Trump gave the congress 6 months to improve DACA, or cancel it. Of course this seemed unconstitutional to state attorneys, causing the lawsuit.
Members of DACA are called “dreamers.” These people were illegally brought to the U.S. as young children or with their families that have overstayed visas. If Trump’s orders were to commence, over 800,000 people in the program will be at risk for deportation. The litigants of the lawsuit are Pennsylvania, Washington, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and New York.
