You might be wondering what DACA is, or how it might have for hundreds of thousands of people in the USA. The way one little incident has affected many others like me, not even for the right or wrong reason. DACA word for word is called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, meaning that it gives a chance for the young people brought to the US illegally to not get deported, to gain a social security card, and live out in the states. When I finally decided which branch I wanted to join. Finally one day I woke up, it was going to be one of the best days ever so far that I wore my Sunday clothes, and headed down to the nearest recruiting officer. I was ready to sign all the paper work and join. Then it struck me, what if I couldn’t join? What if this isn’t the service I might not enjoy after a couple of years, all the questions that fill your mind before wanting to make a huge life choice .all struck me at once. Once there I went towards the Marines (Later I did realize this wasn’t the branch I would’ve rather joined), and there I started, I took the practice ASVAB, I talked to them about what I wanted to get out of joining and why. As towards the end of the interview, they did ask for something I couldn’t provide, proof of residency. I thought that the Immigration card (DACA card) would work, but since the least you need to be when joining the military is a permanent resident, the Card didn’t cover that. The distraught that was on me when I realized some of the many things I couldn’t do due to my history, something I’ve wanted since a child. The next step after the military would’ve been with police; I wanted to become an investigator with the Albuquerque Police Department. So I started to research all I could about the field and many things I could do within the department or around the field. Soon as I kept studying, reading many websites within the ABQ police department, I did realize that most of the jobs within the force’s requirements included, being a US Citizen, some more disappointment had bought but I knew that some stuff like wouldn’t slow me down to the many opportunities I did have open. While researching more, I did find out that I did qualify for something, and that I would get a part time job with them just to get my foot inside while I wait until hopefully the day would come. My next attempt would’ve been within the APD Police Service Aide. It would be a part time, but as DACA, I can do that! I was finally excited about it, one day, after work, I filled all the paper work, all the truths and false about my history and what I had done in the past, and finally I was set, in one day my plans for the next 3 years could be set, the first test day was coming up and I was
