It was December 5, 2003 and Belleview High School had just won their final game and are now heading to the CIF Championships at Sports Authority Field in Denver, Colorado. They are going to play against another D1 football team from Kingston High School who is known for the best defense in the league. Two best friends, Shane and Troy, who've played football together since they were 8 years, have always competed and supported each other. Kingston has the ball but is right away shut down by Belleview's defense, forcing them to punt the ball. Troy comes back on the field thinking that all they need to do is waste time and score at the last minute to win the game. As Troy keeps handing the ball off to his running back, he surprisingly fumbled the ball, giving Kingston back the ball with five minutes left of the game. Belleviews defense once again shut down Kingston's offense but since they recovered the fumble in Belleviews territory, they were able to kick a twenty seven yard field …show more content…
Troy knowing he doesn't have time to waste, puts his offense in a no huddle situation. Right away Troy takes a big hit from the same defensive end that hit Shane putting him to the ground. He is in pain but he knows he cannot let his team down as he struggled to get up. With the score of 17-14 Kingston High School leads with seven seconds left in the game. Troy in a panic, yells,"Deep verticals, ready break!" As he hiked the ball his receivers ran the fastest they could while Troy dodged away from the defensive end once again. Troy then threw the ball as deep as he could with seconds to spare only to find an open receiver down the field sixty yards away. It was a long shot but it made it and the receiver caught the ball for a touchdown. Troy knew they could do it, they were now the CIF
