Led by Adolf Hitler, the Nazi party supported racial superiority, nationalism, and destruction of all those who opposed them. Hitler’s idea of racial superiority left many Jews and those who were mentally and physically challenged in concentration camps were they were tortured, used for work, and killed. After breaking many rules and agreements after World War One, the Nazi’s invaded Poland leading to the start of the war. The battles of World War two were fought at sea, in the air, and on land. Some of the most well-known battles include the Battle of Britain in 1940, Stalingrad in 1942-1943, El Alamein in 1942-1943, Iwo Jima in 1945, and the Battle of the Bugle in 1944-1945. One of the most pivotal battles and most remembered is D-Day which resulted in the liberation of Paris. This allowed the Allied Forces to surround Germany. On August 6, 1945, an American bomber dropped the world’s first atomic bomb over Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The bomb that hit Hiroshima wiped out ninety percent of the city and killed 80,000 people and many later died from radiation exposure. The bomb that was dropped on Nagasaki killed 40,000 people. Japan’s Emperor later announced his countries surrender on August 15. The effects of the bomb did not stop with the people that were killed by the impact and the people exposed to radiation. The birth defects after the bombing were horrendous and lasted many years
