OPERATION OVERLORD: The Normandy Invasions At the Quebec Conference in August 1943, there was a special event that was decided. An event that would change the events of WWII. The members decided on an invasion we now know as D-Day. D-Day actually stands for day. (“Home | D-Day | June 6, 1944 | The United States Army”)The Allies called it Operation Overlord. This invasion would consist of an airborne attack, naval bombardment, and ground attacks on the beaches of Normandy. This event was huge for the allies to go and end the insanity of Hitler.

Omaha beach is the bloodiest beach. The first wave of Allied troops almost all shot. Although there were many casualties, the Allies had won and further invaded Europe.
