D.C. Souvenir

My memento is a beanie and sweatshirt that I bought on the senior class D.C. trip. The beanie is black, white, and gray. It has washington wrapped around the top of it, with a D.C. logo at the bottom of it. The sweatshirt is also black, white, and gray. On the chest of the sweatshirt says Washington D.C. and also down the left arm sleeve. The interesting part about me purchasing these two souvenirs was that I was given a dollar coin since my purchase was a large enough purchase or something like that. This was the first time I have ever been in Washington D.C. and I wanted to have something to remember it by and that is why I bought the sweatshirt and beanie. I had a great time in D.C. and so much fun with my classmates. I

Dating as far back as the Revolutionary War to the present day wars, the Katy Veterans Memorial Museum features many gems and antiques of our nation's combat history. Opened by former President George. H.W. Bush in 1996, the museum stands alone in Texas as the only museum to cover all American war conflicts. Created by a veterans association to honor veterans, the museum features artifacts, documents, flags, and clothing from the American Revolutionary War, The Spanish-American War, The Civil War, World War 1, World War 2, The Cold War, The Korean War, The Vietnam War, and so forth. The director and assistant director (whom I got to interview to obtain all of this information) put together the museum and decide what will go on display.…

Bourbon Street is definitely known for being the party spot of New Orleans. Students plan their spring break vacations to Bourbon Street because of its reputation as being party central. Husbands-to-be plan their bachelor parties on Bourbon Street because of the sinful gentleman’s clubs that can cater to their every desire before the big “I do.” At a glance, Bourbon Street can look like one college party, but if the observer looks closer subtle cultural influences begin to stand out among the people partying. I chose five separate images of Bourbon Street for this project.…

The recreation of the fort lies further away from the Mississippi river today, and is as of 2016 not a complete rendition of how the site was. Fort de Chartres was also not a single fort but a succession of four forts. The recreation of the fort today is of the last Fort de Chartres that was built on the banks of the Mississippi River.…

When I visited George Washington my sophomore year of high school, I instantly knew that your school is where I wanted to go for college. It just wasn't like any of the other colleges that I had seen before, and for that matter it was unlike any I have seen since. I saw that GW is in a beautiful location and that its presence in the capitol greatly enhances both its value and the city’s around it. I really liked walking around the campus, as it was extremely vibrant. I saw that safety is also important, and the combination of security that holds jurisdiction in this area is extremely reassuring.…

The Civil War is to be one of the worst times in American History, with two sides of America battling over American rights and different views from the the Union (North) and the Confederacy (South). During this war there was countless American lives taken and countless battles, but one battle that probably stands out more than others is The Battle of Gettysburg for many reasons. The Battle of Gettysburg lasted three days ,with over ten thousand Union and Confederated soldiers dead and around three times that amount wounded its hard to believe that this many americans could be dead…

One of the most interesting monuments found in the city of Rome is Domitian’s Palace. The place lies south west of Nero’s Palace, Domus Aurea, and west of the river Tiber. His father was Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus Augustus, he was also greatly interested in architecture though was more interested in military. After years of living in Nero’s Palace, Domitian built a new one and let Domus Aurea be open to the public.…

My parents immigrated to the United States in the 90's. I have a picture of them, standing in the street outside of their New York apartment. My mom's hair is gelled back and my dad's rocking the cheesiest dadstache this side of the Atlantic. From the timestamp on the picture I can tell that it must have been taken a few months before my older brother was born. Our family has moved around pretty frequently, both of my parents chasing jobs from state to state, and during the process we often misplaced important things.…
